Even though the movement of people as a response to changes in the environment is not a new phenomenon, this issue has risen on the international agenda as a result of the growing awareness of the reality of climate change and its possible implications. The theme of the 5th World Urban Forum in 2010 is “The Right to the City: Bridging the Urban Divide.” The event attracted some 13,700 participants from 150 countries around the world.
