26 November 2025, Hiroshima, Japan – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) held a public workshop, “Building Peace, Block by Block, Minecraft and Hiroshima” in Hiroshima City. This is part of the training programme, “UNITAR SDGs and Digital Futures: Changemaking Through AI/Digital Storytelling.” In addition to showcasing outstanding digital stories created by training participants, young people in Hiroshima joined to explore the city’s journey of reconstruction and the importance of peace through the use of digital tools.

25 November 2025, California, USA – On 10 August 2025, the Global Entrepreneurs Leadership and Youth Leadership Development Forum brought together around 150 top entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and rising youth leaders in the San Francisco Bay Area to chart a course for shared prosperity amidst a backdrop of rapid technological change, climate urgency and shifting geopolitics.

6 October 2025, San Francisco, USA – On 19 August 2025, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) took part in the Global Entrepreneur Leadership and Youth Leadership Round Table, hosted in the San Francisco Bay Area by Prosperity Alliance Singapore (PASG). UNITAR delivered a keynote speech with PASG and the Brotherhood Cup Foundation, a partner of Prosperity Alliance Singapore based in the Bay Area. The event brought together around 150 participants across generations and sectors to explore innovative solutions for global challenges, highlighting youth leadership, sustainable development and cross-sector collaboration.

29 October 2025, Hiroshima, Japan – On 11 October 2025, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) with ITS Education (ITS) launched the 8-week online “UNITAR Youth Ambassador Asia-Pacific Programme 2025 – Future Skills for Grassroots Leadership”. The opening ceremony was joined by 30 motivated youth from 16 countries, namely, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China including Hong Kong, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, and Viet Nam.

23 October 2025, Geneva, Switzerland – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is proud to announce the 2025 intake for the Dual Doctorate Programme and Dual Master’s Programme, both in Business Administration and AI Engineering. The programmes were launched in 2024 in collaboration with aSSIST University and SDG Management School. They offer a unique opportunity for professionals to advance their expertise and leadership in business and technology, equipping them with the skills necessary to thrive in an era of rapid digital and economic transformation. 7 October 2025, Geneva, Switzerland – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), with the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), invites women and youth agripreneurs from Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe to apply for Phase III of the UNITAR-BADEA Accelerating Sustainable and Climate Resilient Livelihoods Through Development of Small and Medium Agribusiness Enterprises for Women and Youth programme. The programme is open to applicants who participated in Phases I and II. This latest phase focuses on helping entrepreneurs move from planning to practical action – turning their business concepts into climate-smart, market-ready enterprises. Application deadline is 15 October 2025.

6 October 2025, Geneva, Switzerland – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the University of California, Davis, through the Division of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE), on 19 August 2025. The agreement was signed in Davis, California, by Ms. Mihoko Kumamoto, Director of the UNITAR Division for Prosperity, and Mr. Michael Lazzara, Associate Vice Provost of UC Davis Global Affairs, together with Dean Julie Greenwood of UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education.

22 September 2025, Hiroshima, Japan – On 10 September 2025, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) welcomed over 1,100 participants from across the Asia-Pacific and other parts of the world to the Japan-funded “Women’s Leadership in Disaster Risk Reduction for World Tsunami Awareness Day 2025” programme. This programme, run in two phases between September 2025 and March 2026, fosters women’s leadership in community-based early warning systems and disaster response. Recognizing that women and girls are disproportionately affected by hazards, it integrates women, peace, and security principles and positions women as central actors in strengthening climate and disaster resilience in the Pacific and Asia.

19 September 2025, Bogotá, Colombia – In a significant move to strengthen the global fight against illicit financial flows, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), in partnership with the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Section (INL) of the U.S. Department of State, the Financial Information and Analysis Unit (UIAF) of Colombia, and University of Antioquia has successfully certified over 1,200 professionals in the first cohort of the Standard Diploma for Compliance Officers.
