14 June 2023, Hiroshima, Japan – On 5 June 2023, UNITAR Association, UNITAR's national commitee in Japan, held a Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Seminar for its supporting members in Hiroshima, Japan. Hiroshima companies gathered to reflect on the philosophical and practical lessons they’ve learned while integrating the SDGs into their businesses.

8 June 2023, Hiroshima, Japan – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and ITS Education invite young people to apply to the Youth Ambassador Asia Pacific Programme 2023. The programme is open to Asia-Pacific high school students (aged 14–17 years) with a passion for global affairs and wants to engage with the international community.

7 June 2023, Hiroshima, Japan – UNITAR Division for Prosperity will host its first metaverse event “20 Years of Innovation: UNITAR Hiroshima Metaverse Award Ceremony” on 23 June 2023, from 5 to 6 p.m. JST (UTC+9). Three youths will be awarded for their stand-out videos for the UNITAR’s Video Challenge, which calls for videos featuring the role of the youth in digital innovation and promoting sustainable peace. Youths can still join the challenge, until 15 June, and be considered for the award. The award ceremony is open to all; register for access.

24 May 2023, Hiroshima, Japan – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Hiroshima Organization for Global Peace, co-hosted the G7 Summit Partners’ Programme event, Youth Symposium on Peace, on 19 May.

18 May 2023, Hiroshima, Japan – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), with the Government of Japan, is participating in the governmental public relations exhibition in Hiroshima. UNITAR highlights the impact of digital skills training for women, youth and professionals in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Sahel region.

19 April 2023, Hiroshima, Japan – On 17 April 2023, UNITAR and UNITAR Association held the Hiroshima G7: Voice of the Youth dialogue where seven youths from the G7 countries living in Hiroshima had the opportunity to share their life experiences in the City and discuss Hiroshima’s role in promoting global peace.

30 March 2023, Hiroshima, Japan – The free online microlearning course “Defending Human Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” has been translated into an additional 20 languages, expanding access to communities across the globe. The translation project was launched through a partnership among UNITAR, UNESCO and SALTO Participation & Information Resource Centre (SALTO PI).

28 March 2023, Hiroshima, Japan – Ahead of the 2023 G7 Summit in May, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) will host a youth panel “Hiroshima G7: Voice of the Youth – Hiroshima for Global Peace Agenda”. Seven youths living in Hiroshima, one from each G7 country, will share their experiences in the city and discuss Hiroshima’s role in promoting global peace. This event will be co-organized with UNITAR Association.

3 March 2023, Hiroshima, Japan – UNITAR Division for Prosperity Director Mihoko Kumamoto attended the Sport for Future consortium conference in Tokyo on 2 March 2023. The conference showcased leading initiatives that foster the values of sports in Japan and around the world.

27 February 2023, Hiroshima, Japan – Eighteen participants from nine countries will participate in the second phase of UNITAR Hiroshima Women’s Leadership in Tsunami-based Disaster Risk Reduction Training Programme for World Tsunami Awareness Day. The training will be held in person in Samoa from 7–11 March 2023. This is the first time UNITAR Division for Prosperity will hold workshops in Samoa and is also the first time in two years that the DRR Programme will have in-person learning.
