UN CC:LEARN BRINGS CLIMATE CHANGE EDUCATION TO THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DURING COP 27

During the 27th Conferences of the Parties (COP27) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), UN CC:Learn organized another edition of the Climate Classroom, the series of 45-minute lessons which have become the programme’s flagship initiative during COP. Following the successful format of 2021, most classes were held online and open to the broad public.

in water resources management, is helping more Iraqis

PREPARING FOR COP27 NEGOTIATIONS WITH CLIMATE CHANGE DIPLOMACY TRAININGS, DELIVERED BY UNITAR’S DIVISION FOR MULTILATERAL DIPLOMACY

In preparation for the COP27 climate negotiations, UNITAR trained the fellows of the Climate Vulnerable Forum on various aspects of Climate Change Diplomacy. The representatives of the member states of the most climate-vulnerable nations engaged in international negotiations training including UNFCCC simulated negotiations, media training on the skills required to disseminate information
to a wider international audience outside of policy circles
and revised key concepts of adaptation, finance, loss and damage, and mitigation.

PEACE - CREATING PROJECTS TO IMPROVE DELIVER OF ENERGY PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

Moving towards a sustainable energy access (and consumption) is often suggested as an alternative to address climate change.

The Global Platform for Action (GPA) is a global initiative to promote actions that enable sustainable energy access in displacement settings, including disaster and climate-related displacement. As part of its technical expertise and capacity-building thematic area, the GPA has delivered the “Energy Delivery Models” (EDM) Training Programme. The training programme targets humanitarian staff leading energy access projects in displacement settings. This Impact Story collects the experiences on how EDM former training participants have applied knowledge and skills from the programme to lead and implement projects related to sustainable energy and food security and resilience in displacement settings.

GLOBAL INDIGENOUS YOUTH SUMMIT ON CLIMATE CHANGE (GIYSCC)

The Summit is being convened by, for, and among Indigenous youth, who will participate in designing the agenda and invite participants from three 8-hour time zones,
in a 24-hour period, on 9 August 2023. In a complementary context, the Summit will precede the United Nations International Youth Day on August 12th.

KCB FOUNDATION AND UNITAR TO CREATE GREEN JOBS THROUGH ELECTRIC MOTORBIKES IN KENYA

KCB Foundation and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) have partnered to promote the use of electric motorbikes by Boda Boda riders in Kenya. This is an effort towards accelerating the transition to a low-carbon resilient economy and enable the transition of 25% of the total loan portfolio to green investments by 2025, as part of the KCB Net Zero ambition.
