This map illustrates the percentage of damaged buildings in the Vitogo area (east of Lautoka, Ba Province in the northwestern part of Viti Levu Island, Fiji), as determined through the analysis of very high resolution satellite imagery. Using imagery acquired on 22 February 2016, UNITAR-UNOSAT identified a total of 30 damaged structures within the extent of this map, of which 5 were destroyed, 9 were severely damaged, and 16 have moderate damages. These damaged structures were compared with total number of buildings/structures (~ 350) in the area and the percentage of damaged buildings is estimated to be close to 9%. This is a preliminary analysis and has not yet been validated in the field. Please send ground feedback to UNITAR-UNOSAT.
