This map illustrates satellite-detected standing flood waters over affected areas of the three border countries located around the Lake Chad: Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad. The situational map shows the flood extent as of 30 October 2012, detected with MODIS imagery, Eastern and southern parts of Chad, as well as the confluence area located close to Kousseri town have been hit by floods caused by heavy rains. Notes: The exact limit of flood waters is uncertain because of the low spatial resolution of the satellite data used for this analysis. Detected water bodies likely reflect an underestimation of all flood-affected areas within the map extent. This analysis has not yet been validated in the field. Please send ground feedback to UNITAR /UNOSAT
