UNITAR is the only United Nations entity to establish a presence in the symbolic city of Hiroshima - the City of Peace, in a response to the desire of its people and authorities to contribute more actively to global peace and development. We have conducted training for more than 5000 people from over 60 countries in Hiroshima, who have come to see Hiroshima’s message of peace, and learn from its post-conflict reconstruction experience. Study tours have been arranged in Japan and Hiroshima, covering a range of areas such as public financial management, green economy, disaster risk reduction, women’s empowerment and more.

“I learnt so much by coming to Hiroshima. It gives me hope and inspires me.”
