Hundreds of wildfires spread across Northern Algeria after weeks of high temperatures during the months of June and July. An estimated number of 1,500 land hectares have been ravaged by forest fires in the north of Algeria from 6 to 12 July 2017.
The most affected provinces are Bejaia, Tizi-Ouzou, Setif, Medea, Skikda, Ain Defla, Saida, Jijel, Sidi Bel Abbes and Mostaganem.
UNITAR-UNOSAT in collaboration with the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) are supporting this emergency by providing (satellite-derived) value-added analysis and mapping products in the most affected areas by the wildfires.
