Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, or more collectively known as WASH, are three fundamental issues that are grouped together due to their interdependent nature. One common example is the absence of toilets contaminate water sources, and basic hygiene habits are impossible without access to clean water.

The provision of safe water, sanitation, and hygienic conditions is essential to protecting human health during all infectious disease outbreaks, including the COVID-19 outbreak . As proper hand-washing has been recommended to effectively fight the virus, it is therefore necessary to ensure that WASH practices and principles are consistently observed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

By the end of this event, participants will be able to:

• Discuss the importance of ensuring WASH principles are practiced and observed in households, communities, schools etc., most especially in the time of COVID-19;

• Promote participation in WASH practices and initiatives as a primary tool in preventing the spread of COVID-19;

• Explore possible strategies and proactive measures to address short- and long-term issues on WASH and the “new normal” in the context of COVID-19

This event is comprised of presentations with experts, followed by a Q&A session.

This webinar is intended for decision-makers from local and national governments; academia; and professionals working on WASH services (Operators and managers of private and public sector utilities, formal or informal provision of (drinking) water supply and sanitation services), and advocates of WASH principles (NGOs, civil society groups, private companies, and individuals).
