CIFAL Malaga- Inclusive Growth and the 2030 Agenda: The principle of "Leave No-One Behind"
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
Achieving inclusive growth that 'leaves no one behind' is a central element of the 2030 Agenda for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, the application of the principle of 'Leave No-One Behind' requires greater precision for its measurement and use in the design and evaluation of public politics. In this course we propose a novel approach to measure the principle of 'Leave No-One Behind', and we illustrate our proposal with its application to various specific fields in a way that allows us to assess the situation of both individuals and countries from this prism.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the 17 SDGs and the 2030 Agenda to better understand them and the challenges in achieving it.
- Create a space for collaboration, negotiation and communication to promote and understand the SDGs as well as the self-reflection skills, values, attitudes and motivations that enable learners to develop them.
- Share examples and good practices where the work of political authorities and other local administrations can contribute towards these goals.
- Analyse from a theoretical and practical point of view the implications of civil society.
- Include professionals from every discipline to tackle these goals.
- Understand the concepts of sustainability and to analyse the needs of our current society in order to generate a systemic approach to sustainable development.
