Swedish Diplomat, Former Special Advisor to the President of the African Development Bank

Mr. Bo Göransson has a long diplomatic career with various past assignments in Sweden as well as in Sudan, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda and other African countries. For almost a decade, he was a Director General and Chairman of the Board of Sida, Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency. This was followed by appointments as Swedish Ambassador to Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, Seychelles, and Comoros and EU spokesman on development assistance, among else. In 2006-2007, Mr. Göransson served as a Member of the Four Nations Initiative to assess reforms of the UN, and was responsible for drafting a Swedish Government Communication to Parliament on relations with Africa. In 2008-2010 – Special Advisor to the President of the African Development Bank.

Over years, Mr. Göransson has been a consultant and a lecturer in Europe and Africa as well as a board member of various Swedish organisations and institutions active in the area of development. He is also an author of around 100 articles and several books on politics and development issues.
