21 June 2011, Geneva, Switzerland. UNITAR and the Republic of Congo (Ministry of Sustainable development, forestry economy and environment) have signed an agreement for a 2-year project on capacity building for implementation of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS).

A Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR) is a national or regional environmental database of potentially hazardous emissions of chemicals to air, water and soil and transfers off-site of chemical waste to treatment and final disposal locations. A PRTR can provide important information on what pollutants are being released in a territory, as well as where exactly and how much is being released.
