UNITAR (the United Nations Institute for Training and Research) is delighted to announce its partnership with ISRI (Instituto Superior de Relaciones Internacionales "Raúl Roa García"). On Wednesday, 5 April 2023, both parties met at the UNITAR headquarters in Geneva to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on both English and Spanish.

Beirut/Bonn, 30 March 2023 – A shift to a circular economy in West Asia would place 33 per cent less electronic and electrical equipment on the market and reduce e-waste by 14 per cent, according to the ‘2050 Electrical and Electronic Waste Outlook for West Asia’. The report is published by the UN Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Regional Office for West Asia and the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) as the world marks the inaugural International Day of Zero Waste.

8 March 2023 – On International Women’s Day, 2023, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) announced the launch of its new “Master of Arts in Gender and Development” (hybrid format), in cooperation with the University for Peace (UPEACE). The announcement marked the continuation of a long-standing partnership, which combines the academic strength of UPEACE with the world-class executive-style training of UNITAR.

13 September 2022, Geneva, Switzerland – The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The Defeat-NCD Partnership at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The partnership is aimed at advancing Sustainable Development Goal 3.4 i.e., the reduction by one-third of premature mortality from NCDs through prevention and treatment and supporting efforts to enable and assist all low-resource countries to scale-up action on NCDs through the four pillars of work of the Defeat-NCD Partnership.

21 June 2022, Geneva, Switzerland - On 16 May 2022, the Humanitarian Energy Conference (HEC) was held at the Kigali Marriott Hotel in Rwanda, convening over 200 people representing more than 100 organizations. The HEC provided the humanitarian energy community with an opportunity to reflect on progress and persisting challenges on the overarching vision of achieving sustainable energy for all refugees and hosting communities. Stakeholders engaged in the conference included government officials, UN agencies, International NGOs, private companies, academics, and other practitioners from the energy, development and humanitarian sectors. The speakers and attendees voiced the need for improving energy access for displaced people and their host communities around the world. Throughout the conference, expert practitioners shared critical insights and best practices on how to achieve SDG7 in displacement settings. The humanitarian energy community highlighted the need for immediate action on improving access to energy for all displaced people and their host communities.
