Ibtikari is an entrepreneurship training and coaching programme for young Algerian graduates developed by the Algerian government, through the Department of Labor, Employment and Social Security (MTESS), in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
Ibtikari’s objective is to contribute to the economic development of the country in responding to the request for the establishment of businesses in strategic sectors with high added value. Through the development of entrepreneurial activities, this programme aims at creating jobs and reducing unemployment among young graduates.
Since the beginning of its design, the Ibtikari programme has followed a participatory approach to ensure the involvement of stakeholders at the national level, including the principal beneficiaries: the young graduates.
Ibtikari is a pilot project which aims at training and accompanying 700 young graduates. The vision of the Algerian government is to create a model programme which, thanks to its innovative characteristics and its rigorous monitoring and evaluation process, can serve as a benchmark for future entrepreneurship training programmes in Algeria.
