An intense and productive training of trainers (ToT) was run in Cairo from the 4th – 6th December, 2010 in partnership with the Cairo Center for Training on Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping in Africa (CCCPA). The programme saw innovative and interactive training techniques utilized in the delivery and training of individuals from civil society, universities and government. The programme helped participants increase their use of training methodologies, while at the same time immersing them in concepts of natural resource management and peacekeeping.

Following the ToT, a training course on the same topic was held from the 7th – 9th December, 2010. The newly qualified trainers were given the opportunity to utilize their skills, in partnership with experts, while presenting and facilitating discussions on natural resource management and peacekeeping. Participants came from the military, police, civil society and diplomatic staff. The debates were lively and engaging and participant feedback illustrated the need and interest in this important topic.

The format of the ToT, followed by the training course, allowed for a large and diverse audience to engage in this important subject. The participatory nature of the event brought in the experiences of both the new trainers and the participants, which deepened and enriched the learning that took place.
