Fellowship Fund
Fellowship Fund
In order to ensure the on-going participation of least developed countries and other developing countries in CDT courses, UNITAR requests countries to contribute to the recently established “UNITAR Fellowship Fund”. The Fellowship Fund is financed with the support of Member States and offers fee-waivers for diplomats from least developed and developing countries who wish to participate in UNITAR’s CDT courses, according to the list specified by the World Bank.
How to apply?
If you are a national of a country listed by the World Bank’s classification, please register online using the online registration form of the course of your interest (at http://www.unitar.org/event/by/mdp). You will automatically receive an invoice, but as a fellowship candidate, you are not required to make the payment. Please save the invoice for your records. In addition, interested diplomats are required to write an email containing their contact details and the course title to:diplomacy@unitar.org .
UNITAR’s Fellowship Fund is an integral part of UNITAR’s 2010-2012 Strategic Plan which introduces a new business model. In welcoming UNITAR’s new business model, the General Assembly appealed to Member States and others to provide financial support to the Fellowship Fund (A/res/64/260). Contributions to it will cover the costs of participation of least developed country and other developing country participants in UNITAR’s diplomatic training. A Fellowship Fund Committee oversees the Fund’s operations and will endeavour to provide as many fellowships as possible. (The Fellowship Fund does not replace the Institute’s General Fund.) Countries pledging a baseline contribution to the Fellowship Fund by January will be assured free access for all its diplomats to the full range of UNITAR CDT courses in that year.
