Overview (quick description of the funded project and its context)
The Strategic Implementation of the 2030 Agenda Unit is supporting the holistic and evidence-based implementation of the 2030 Agenda and SDGs through training, learning, advisory services and multi-stakeholder engagement. In the context of this initiative, UNITAR is designing and delivering learning toolkits in English and French, face-to-face training and stakeholder workshops, offering tailored methodological support and developing and delivering e-learning to support the mainstreaming and implementation of the 2030 Agenda in UN Member States by public, private and civil society sectors.
General Objectives of the Contract
The incumbent will join the team in charge of the design of online course and learning toolkits and delivery of e-learning and face-to-face training events and will have an opportunity to contribute professionally to the output while strengthening her/his knowledge and gaining practical experience. The incumbent will also gain competencies in: training and learning methodology, technology-enhanced learning, and increase his/her knowledge of the 2030 sustainable development agenda, national processes for its implementation and the role and contributions of various stakeholders from public, private sectors and civil society. One of the components will involve the development of learning products specifically for private sector stakeholders.
The internship/traineeship is for a period of six months at UNITAR headquarters. In line with UN rules and regulations, interns and trainees are gratis personnel.
Responsibilities/Description of Professional Services/Learning Objectives
Under the supervision of the Specialist, Strategic Implementation of the 2030 Agenda, the intern/trainee will be involved in the design and delivery of online courses and learning packages and events.
- Support the implementation of the planned project activities;
- Participate in the design of new online courses and learning toolkits, with the use of innovative methods for adult learners, translation, and editing of the course content (presentations, exercises, scenario-based activities, assessments, materials, documentation, etc.);
- Support the administration of online courses;
- Support the organization, and delivery of face-to-face training activities.
The intern/trainee will be reporting to the Specialist, Strategic Implementation of the 2030 Agenda Unit.
A first or a second-level University degree in one of the following areas: education, communication, development studies, business or international relations.
The intern/trainee should possess organizational, analytical and technical skills to assist with the delivery and organization of courses, working knowledge of MS Office package and computer skills to deal with e-Learning tools. Knowledge of software as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere, Articulate Storyline, and familiarity with web 2.0 technologies, incl. online presentation, and animation tools, are an advantage. Knowledge of the private sector learning needs in the area of sustainable development is an added advantage.
Fluent English and French are required.
