Our Portfolio

The current projects of the Decentralized Cooperation Programme comprise:

  • CIFAL Global Network: Most of DCP’s training services are delivered through the CIFAL Global Network. The CIFAL centres provide innovative training throughout the world and serve as hubs for the exchange of knowledge amongst government officials, the private sector and civil society. 

  • Youth Development in Nigeria: Based on an analysis of the disparity in skills in the Niger Delta in Nygeria, a youth vocational technical training programme has been launched to fulfill the identified needs. The training ensures a specialized and skilled young workforce needed for the oil and gas industry in the Niger Delta and the West African sub-region.

  • Capacity building in Afganistan: UNITAR and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies are jointly implementing the Executive Master in Development Policies and Practices for civil servants from the Afghan Ministry of Finance. The programme lasts for 12 consecutive months and ends in the conferral of a Master’s degree for successful candidates that fulfil all requirements.

  • Resilience and DRR Initiative: The objective of the “Disaster Preparedness in Latin America and the Caribbean Initiative" is to strengthen the capacity of cities and local governments and policy makers to reduce disaster risk by (1) Facilitating the exchange of best practices, experiences and approaches to better manage disasters,(2) Promoting collaboration among local governments, universities, research/training institutions and the private sector to develop more effective disaster response and preparedness strategies (3) Providing learning courses to increase the understanding of risk reduction concepts and approaches, as well as trends and challenges.

  • Human Mobility Programme: Based on UNITAR’s leadership role in coordinating policy dialogue and capacity development on international human mobility, and in strengthening how training partners implement capacity development projects in this field, its Human Mobility Programme (HMP) focuses on Strengthening Local Governance, Facilitating Policy Dialogue and Building Knowledge Capacity.

  • E-learning Portfolio: we provide e-learning opportunities to increase the outreach of its training activities. The online courses, based on sound academic principles, are intended for decision-makers from different government levels and representatives of the private sector, NGOs and international organizations.
