CIFAL Atlanta Organizes Briefing on Social Entrepreneurship

12 April 2018, Atlanta, United States - UNITAR's Affiliated Center for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in Atlanta, in partnership with the Wellstar College of Health and Human Services and Ignite HQ, hosted a briefing with 32 participants from Kennesaw State University and various companies in the Atlanta area. The briefing included two panel sessions consisting of short presentations and participant dialogue, with an opportunity for networking before and after the panels. Social entrepreneurship allows individuals and groups to use creativity and ingenuity to address problems on both a local and global scale and igniting a push for social change. The sustainable development goals require leaders and social entrepreneurs to utilize innovation for social and environmental change to happen. Training in social entrepreneurship is crucial for today’s world in that it will help individuals tap into their potential as entrepreneurs and translate skills into solutions.

The briefing was split in two parts, whereas the first part consisted of two panel presentations by six local, national, and international speakers that focused on Financial and Impact Sustainability and Problem Mapping, Customer Discovery and Solution Identification. The second session was a drop-in session and allowed participants to directly ask questions to social entrepreneur mentors.

The briefing created discussion and awareness of the impact of social entrepreneurship has for local and community growth, and how to leverage current resources and ingenuity into tangible results. Participants welcomed this opportunity to exchange expierences between themselves and with social entrepreneurship mentors.
