The Multilateral Diplomacy Programme (MDP) of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) designs and delivers the Institute’s core diplomacy training (CDT), consisting primarily of orientation briefings and short, intensive skills development workshops, which benefit cumulatively some 2,500 diplomats yearly at the United Nations Headquarters and other venues where the Organization maintains a significant presence. Parallel to CDT, MDP develops and delivers training activities at country and regional levels in close partnership with national training institutes, universities and selected international organizations. MDP activities also include the design and delivery of e-Learning courses.
MDP’s Women’s Leadership Programme (WLP) has a mandate to promote gender equality with an aim of supporting the leadership and effective participation of female officials at all levels of political decision-making. It addresses the gender imbalance in delegations to multilateral conferences and decision-making fora in Geneva, New York and Vienna and aims to raise the profile of women and integrate gender sensitivity to the work undertaken in multilateral working environments and in the work of the UN more broadly.
The Multilateral Diplomacy Programme is now calling for experienced trainers / subject matter experts to join its roster. We are seeking individuals who can support the programme in designing and facilitating activities (including training and workshops) related to gender equality, gender mainstreaming, women’s empowerment, and women’s participation in leadership, negotiations and decision-making processes. More specifically, thematic areas covered by the call are as follows:
- Gender Mainstreaming
- Gender responsive planning & gender budgeting
- Women’s Economic Empowerment
- Women’s Leadership & Participation in Decision Making
- Gender Equality, Environment & Climate Change
- Women, Sustainable Consumption & Production
- Gender, Peace and Security
- Social Inclusion (including working with men and boys)
- Gender Based Violence
- Gender Equality in Education
- Gender Equality in the Work Place
- Gender Equality and Sexual Reproductive Health
A minimum of a master’s degree and 10 years of substantial experience in social sciences, international development, economics or education. A Doctorate in a related field can be considered as a substitute for three years of working experience.
Proficiency in English is essential; proficiency in French, Arabic or other UN languages will be considered as an asset.
